History of Rallye du Maroc

Morocco has always been a land of rally raid. The story began in 1982 with the Paris-Agadir, the first rally raid to run in Morocco. The following year, the rally became the Atlas Rally, quickly establishing itself as the flagship event on the rally raid calendar and attracting the best drivers and teams.

After changing hands from the company Larivièret to ASO, the Atlas Rally disappeared at the end of the 1990s. It was reborn in 2000 as the Rallye du Maroc, under the leadership of Cyril Neveu and Jean-Christophe Pelletier. The rally immediately became Morocco’s premier rally, welcoming again the elite of rally raid.

In 2007, the company NPO, organiser of the Rallye du Maroc, was sold to Emma and Stéphane Clair, and the event became part of the FIM World Championship and the FIA World Cup. After ten years at the helm, NPO transferred the Rallye du Maroc to ODC, led by David Castera. In 2025, a new chapter begins with Pro Dunes taking over the organisation. With Marc Coma and Luc Alphand leading the team, the Rallye du Maroc combines a renewed vision, professional management, and international expertise, continuing its tradition as the ultimate pre-Dakar test. The rally remains a key event on the rally raid calendar, offering challenging routes and an unrivaled experience in Morocco’s deserts.
